Anita Loos was born in Sisson, California. She was an American screenwriter, playwright and author, best known for her blockbuster comic novel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She sent her first attempt at a one-reel screenplay, The New York Hat, to the Biograph Company, for which she received $25. By 1912, Loos had sold scripts to both the Biograph and Lubin studios. Between 1912 and 1915, she turned out 105 scripts, only four of which went unproduced, and she would write 200 scenarios before she ever saw the inside of a studio.
