Hugh Leonard was born in Dublin, Ireland. He was an Irish playwright, screenwriter, novelist, essayist and newspaper columnist. He wrote nearly 30 full-length plays, 10 one-act plays, three volumes of essays, three novels, and numerous screenplays and teleplays. He worked as a civil servant. He educated at Presentation College, Glasthule.
