Gillian Slovo was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is a South African novelist and playwright. She has lived in London since 1964. She has written several novels include: Death by analysis, Ties of Blood, Close Call, Red Dust, Ice Road(Orange Prize for Fiction), and Black Orchids. She has written two plays include: Guantanamo(with Victoria Brittain) and The Riots. She has written other books include: Every Secret Thing(memoir) and Merhaba Sinem. She was the 25th president of the English Centre of International PEN, the worldwide writers fellowship.
