James Stuart Gilmore III was born in Richmond, Virginia, USA. He is an American Republican politician and lawyer. He served as the 68th Governor of Virginia from 1998 to 2002 and Chairman of the Republican National Committee in 2001. He earned a BA degree from the University of Virginia in 1971. He earned his Law degree from the University of Virginia Law School in 1977. He served as the 38th Attorney General of Virginia from 1994-1997. He married to Roxane Gatling in 1977. They have two sons.
