John K. Hutchens was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He was an American author and editor. He was a editor of the New York Times Book Review and daily book reviewer for the venerable New York Herald Tribune. He is the author of book, entitled One Man's Montana. With George Oppenheimer, he edited "The Best in The World". He was also editor of the anthology "The American Twenties: A Literary Panorama, as well as "The Gambler's Bedside book", fact and fiction from the world of gambling.
