Diane Duane was born in New York City. She is an American cartoonist, novelist, nurse, and screenwriter. Her works include the Young Wizards young adult fantasy series and the Rihannsu Star Trek novels. After school, she studied nursing and practiced as a psychiatric nurse for two years. Since the publication of her first novel in 1981, she's written fifty more, not to mention numerous short stories, comics, computer games and screenplays for TV and film, and has picked up the occasional award here and there.
