John Adair was born in Chester County, South Carolina, USA. He was an American politician and soldier. He was the eighth Governor of Kentucky from 1820-1824. He served as the US Senator from Kentucky (1805-1806) and the US House of Representatives from Kentucky (1831-1833). He was elected to a total of eight terms in the Kentucky state House of Representatives. He served as Speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives. Popular for his service in two wars, including the Revolutionary War and the Northwest Indian War.
