Ivan Doig was born in White Sulphur Springs, Montana, USA. He was an American author and novelist, widely known for his sixteen fiction and non-fiction books. He earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. He earned his Ph.D. in American history from the University of Washington. He wrote several novels include: The sea runners, English Creek, Dancing at the Rascal Fair, Bucking the sun, Mountain time, Prairie Nocturne, The whistling season, The whistling season, The Eleventh Man, Work Song, The Bartender's Tale, Sweet Thunder, and Last Bus to Wisdom. His nonfiction works include: This House of Sky: Landscapes of a Western Mind(memoir, nominations: National Book Award for Contemporary Thought), Winter Brothers, and Heart Earth(memoir).
