Gertrude Lawrence was born in London, England. She was an English actress and musical comedy performer known for her stage appearances in the West End of London and on Broadway in New York. Her role in several films include: The Battle of Paris, Aren't We All?, Lord Camber's Ladies, No Funny Business, Mimi, Rembrandt, Men Are Not Gods, and The Glass Menagerie. In 1945, she published the autobiography A Star Danced.
