James Francis "Jim" Cameron was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada. He is a Canadian film director, producer, screenwriter, film editor, philanthropist and deep-sea explorer. In 1971 his family moved to California. After studying physics at California State University at Fullerton, he worked at a series of jobs, including machinist and truck driver, before a viewing of Star Wars inspired him to try his hand at moviemaking.
