General McChrystal had to go. Whatever his virtues as a strategist and commander, the ‘Rolling Stone’ interview fatally compromised his ability to represent the United States in dealing with allies and to act within the circle of people who must make decisions in Afghanistan.
When we get the private sector going through job creation and growth, then the governments at all level have revenues to do the things that they need to do. And that’s why it’s so important to get this economy moving, to get jobs created. We can’t keep going on with this anemic recovery.

He earned a BA (political science) degree from Washington University, St. Louis in 1978. He earned a JD degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1981. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge Richard A. Posner. He served as an adjunct professor at Washington University Law school in St. Louis from 1984-86. He married Brenda Lee Lyons in 1984. They have three children, Katy, Chrissy, and Michael. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1984. He served as a U.S. House of Representatives from Missouri's 2nd district(1993-2001). He worked as a senior adviser to Mitt Romney's 2008 presidential campaign. He is also a co-chairman at Mercury, a Washington D.C. lobbying firm.
