John Luigi Mica was born in Binghamton, New York, USA. He is an American Republican politician. He studied at Miami Edison High School and Miami-Dade Community College. He earned a BA degree from the University of Florida in 1967. He has been a businessman serving in the real estate, telecommunications, government affairs and consulting fields. He was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1976-1980. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida's 7th congressional district from 1993-2017. He served as Chair of the House Transportation Committee from 2011-2013. He married Patricia in 1972. They have two children.
