John Claggett Danforth was born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He is an American Republican politician, diplomat, lawyer and priest. He began his career in 1968 as the Attorney General of Missouri. He served as United States Senator from Missouri (1976-1995). He served as United States Ambassador to the United Nations from 2004-2005.
