George R. Nethercutt, Jr. was born in Spokane, Washington, USA. He is an American politician and lawyer. He was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 2005, representing Washington's 5th congressional district. He earned a B.A. in English from Washington State University in 1967 and a law degree from Gonzaga University in 1971. He has founded The George Nethercutt Foundation in Spokane, Washington. A lawyer by training and profession, he practiced law for 18 years before being elected to Congress. He handled more than 2000 adoptions in his law practice.
