Gloria Randle Scott was born in Houston, Texas, USA. She is an American educator and the first African-American to head the Girl Scouts of the USA from 1975 to 1978. She received a B.A. degree in Zoology from Indiana University in 1959. She received an M.A. degree in Zoology from Indiana University in 1960. She received a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Indiana University in 1965. She was president of Bennett College, serving from 1987- 2001.
