Gene Fowler was born in Denver, Colorado, USA. He was an American journalist, author, playwright, and screenwriter. He worked for the New York Daily Mirror, and then became newspaper syndication manager for King Features. He wrote several books include: The great mouthpiece, Minutes of the Last Meeting, Good night sweet prince, Timber Line, and Schnozzola. He wrote or co-wrote screenplays for the following movies: What Price Hollywood?, Twentieth Century, The Call of the Wild, A Message to Garcia, Ali Baba Goes to Town, and Nancy Steele Is Missing!.
