John Metcalf was born in Carlisle, England. He is an English-born Canadian writer, editor, novelist, essayist and critic. He earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Certificate in Education from the University of Bristol. He was Senior Editor at the Porcupine’s Quill until 2005, and is now Fiction Editor at Biblioasis.
