John Derbyshire was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. He is a British-born American author and journalist. He studied mathematics at the University College London. He formerly wrote a column in National Review. He has also written for the New English Review. In 2012, he wrote an article for Taki's Magazine titled "The Talk: Nonblack Version." Before turning to writing full-time, he worked on Wall Street as a computer programmer. He then worked at VDARE.
