John Derbyshire was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. He is a British-born American author and journalist. He studied mathematics at the University College London. He formerly wrote a column in National Review. He has also written for the New English Review. In 2012, he wrote an article for Taki's Magazine titled "The Talk: Nonblack Version." Before turning to writing full-time, he worked on Wall Street as a computer programmer. He then worked at VDARE. He has written several books include: Mental and Physical Fitness for Sailing, Seeing Calvin Coolidge in a Dream (novel, New York Times "Notable Book of the Year"), Fire from the Sun, Prime Obsession (Won- Euler Book Prize), Unknown Quantity, We Are Doomed, and From the Dissident Right II (essays).
