Hermann Minkowski was born in Aleksotas, Kaunas, Lithuania. He was a German mathematician. He created and developed the geometry of numbers and used geometrical methods to solve problems in number theory, mathematical physics, and the theory of relativity. He studied at the University of Königsberg, where he earned his doctorate in 1885. He taught at the universities of Bonn, Göttingen, Königsberg and Zürich. He was awarded the Mathematics Prize of the French Academy of Sciences for his manuscript on the theory of quadratic forms. He wrote several books include: Space and Time, The Principle of Relativity(with Hermann Weyl and Hendrik Lorentz), and Principle of Relativity Origin(with Albert Einstein).
