Harvey Banks Martin was born in Dallas, Texas, USA. He was an American football defensive end in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys from 1973 until 1983. In 2009, he was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame.
