Friz Freleng was born in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. He was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer and composer famous for his work on the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons from Warner Bros. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, he directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio, and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. He created the character of the Pink Panther for the animated titles to the film The Pink Panther and then used the character for a series of cartoons for DePatie-Freleng.
