Francis M. "Frank" Jordan was born in San Francisco, California, USA. He is an American politician and former police chief. He studied political science and government at the University of San Francisco during his time of the police force and graduated in 1975. Before becoming mayor, he served as the Chief of the San Francisco Police Department from 1986 until 1990, at which point he resigned to run for mayor.
