Filippo Tommaso Emilio Marinetti was born in Alexandria, Egypt. He was an Italian poet, editor, novelist, dramatist, and founder of the Futurist movement. He is best known as the author of the first Futurist Manifesto, which was written and published in 1909. He graduated in 1894 at the Sorbonne, France. In 1899 he graduated in law at the University of Pavia, Italy. He wrote novels including Mafarka il futurista and The Untameables. He also applied Futurism to drama in such plays as the French Le Roi bombance and the Italian Anti-neutralità and summed up his dramatic theory in a prose work, Teatro sintetico futurista.
