Elbridge Thomas Gerry was born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA. He was an American politician. As a Democratic-Republican he was selected as the fifth Vice President of the United States, serving under James Madison. Gerry, a Democratic-Republican, running unsuccessfully for Governor of Massachusetts several times before winning the office in 1810.
