Donna Brazile was born in Kenner, Louisiana. She is an American author, academic, and political strategist who is Vice Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She was the first African American to direct a major presidential campaign, acting as campaign manager for Al Gore in 2000. She earned a bachelor's degree in industrial psychology from Louisiana State University in 1981, and is a Fellow at the Institute of Politics at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Simon and Schuster published Cooking With Grease, Brazile's memoir of her life and work in politics.
