She has written several novels include: Squashed, Thwonk, Sticks, Rules of the Road (Golden Kite Award for Fiction, LA Times Book Prize), Backwater, Hope Was Here (John Newbery Medal), Peeled, Close to Famous, Almost Home, and Soar. She is a member of the Writers Guild of America East, the Authors Guild, PEN, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
