Jeremiah Alvesta Wright Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He is a pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. In early 2008, he retired after 36 years as the Senior Pastor and no longer has daily responsibilities at the church. He earned a BA degree in 1968 and an MA degree in English in 1969 from Howard University. He also earned an MA degree from the University of Chicago Divinity School. In 1990, he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He has written several books include: What Makes You So Strong?, Good News!, and A Sankofa Moment. He married to Ramah Reed Wright. They have four daughters and one son.
