Daniel Julius Bernstein was born in East Patchogue, New York. He is an American mathematician, cryptologist, programmer and professor of mathematics and computer science at the Eindhoven University of Technology and research professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from New York University and has a PhD in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.
