Chester L. Posey was an American advertising executive who played a key role in shaping Exxon's tiger logo. Mr. Posey was a second-generation employee of McCann-Erickson, now called McCann-Erickson Worldwide and a subsidiary of the Interpublic Group of Companies, one of the world's largest advertising groups. Mr. Posey, who rose to creative director and vice chairman, left the company in the late 1970's and started his own advertising agency, Posey, Parry & Quest, in Greenwich, Conn. Mr. Posey retired in the late 1980's. Mr. Posey, a graduate of Yale, served in the Pacific as a Navy lieutenant during World War II.
