He is an Australian writer who specialises in children's and young adults' fantasy novels, notably the Old Kingdom, Seventh Tower and Keys to the Kingdom series. He earned a B.A. degree in professional writing at Canberra University. He has written several novels include: Sabriel, Abhorsen, Lirael, Mister Monday, Shade's Children, Grim Tuesday, A Confusion of Princes, Sir Thursday, Lady Friday, Superior Saturday, Lord Sunday, and The Ragwitch.
