Harriet Beryl Braiker was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. She was an American psychologist, best-selling author and internationally-renowned expert in women’s issues. Her pioneering book, The Type E Woman: How to Overcome the Stress of Being Everything to Everybody, made mainstream and medical news around the world when it was first published in the late 1980s. She was a contributing editor and columnist for Working Woman and Lear's, and also wrote for many other national women's magazines. She wrote other books include: Who's Pulling Your Strings?, Lethal Lovers and Poisonous People, The Disease to Please, Getting Up When You're Feeling Down, and The September 11 Syndrome.
